Scan a QR, collect cash: a UPI ATM at the village shop

At a DuePe CSP the customer scans the shop's QR with any UPI app, approves the amount with their own UPI PIN and takes the cash from the counter. No debit card, no Aadhaar, no trip to the town ATM.

  • Any UPI app
  • Their own PIN, their own phone
  • Cash only after confirmation
Safe hand-over

Cash leaves the drawer only after the bank says yes

The app walks the shopkeeper through three states, so cash is never handed over against an unconfirmed payment.

  1. Waiting for payment

The QR is on screen with a countdown, and the app shows: do not hand over cash yet.

  2. Payment confirmed

The bank confirms the debit from the customer's account and the app updates on its own.

  3. Hand over the cash

The shopkeeper gives the cash and shares the reference for the customer's records.

What you get

What the customer gets

Your phone is the card. The shop is the ATM.

01

Any UPI app

Works with the UPI app already on the customer's phone, for any bank that supports UPI cash withdrawal.

02

Their own PIN, their own phone

The customer checks the amount and enters the UPI PIN on their own phone. The shopkeeper never sees the PIN.

03

Cash only after confirmation

The app tells the shopkeeper not to hand over cash until the bank has confirmed the payment.

04

A reference for every withdrawal

Every withdrawal carries a reference, so any question later is answered from the record.

UPI ATM or AEPS

Two ways to take out cash at the same counter

Both work at a DuePe CSP. The customer picks the one that suits them.

How it works

Four steps at the counter

  1. 1

    Enter the amount

The shopkeeper enters the withdrawal amount in the DuePe app.

  2. 2

    Show the QR

The app shows a one-time QR for that amount, valid for a few minutes.

  3. 3

    Customer scans and approves

The customer scans the QR with any UPI app and approves with their UPI PIN.

  4. 4

    Confirmed, cash handed over

When the app shows the payment as confirmed, the shopkeeper hands over the cash and the reference.

For shopkeepers and partners

Why UPI ATM brings people to the shop

Cash in hand without a card, a thumb or a queue.

Commission on every withdrawal

Each successful withdrawal earns the shop a commission, shown on screen next to the QR.

Customers AEPS cannot serve

Young customers who pay by UPI every day, and people whose fingerprint does not read well, can still take out cash.

No card and no scanner

This service needs no ATM card and no fingerprint device: the customer's phone does the work.

Your phone is the card. The shop is the ATM.
No cash leaves the counter until the app says confirmed.

In the village

An ATM in every lane

The nearest ATM is often in the town, sometimes empty, and a card is easy to lose. Most families already carry a phone with UPI. At a DuePe CSP that phone becomes the card: scan, approve, and the cash is in hand at the shop around the corner.

For the shopkeeper it is one more reason for people to walk in, with a commission on every withdrawal and a record of every rupee.

Common questions

Questions about UPI ATM

Which UPI apps work?

Any UPI app on the customer's phone that can scan a QR and pay, as long as the customer's bank supports UPI cash withdrawal.

Is there a withdrawal limit?

Yes. Limits per withdrawal and per day are set by the customer's bank and NPCI, and the bank declines amounts above them.

What if money is debited but the app does not confirm?

The shopkeeper does not hand over cash. A debit that is not confirmed is reversed to the customer's account by the bank, and the reference is used to follow it up.

Does the customer need a debit card or Aadhaar?

No. Only a phone with a UPI app and the UPI PIN. That makes it useful for customers whose fingerprint does not read well for AEPS.

Is a fingerprint device needed for UPI ATM?

No. The shop only needs the DuePe app on its Android phone to show the QR; the customer's own phone does the rest.

How long is the QR valid?

A few minutes. The app shows a countdown; if it runs out, the shopkeeper creates a new QR for the amount.
